RailOne App Brings Ticket Booking, PNR Status, Food Orders, and Feedback Under One Roof — Here’s What It Means for Passengers
In a big digital leap, Indian Railways has unveiled its new all-in-one mobile application ‘RailOne‘ to cater to all the needs of passengers travelling through is vast national network. Marketed as a “super app,” RailOne seeks to bring together various services including IRCTC ticket booking, PNR tracking, e-catering, unreserved ticketing and train enquiry and do away with the requirement of downloading and using several apps.
This is the big step taken to unify the Indian train travel which will help to make it more user-friendly.
What Is RailOne?
The RailOne is one place for all our customers needs. The app allows users to:
- Book reserved, unreserved, and platform tickets
- Track PNR status and train running status
- Check coach positions and platform numbers
- Order food via IRCTC eCatering
- Submit feedback through Rail Madad
- Use a single sign-on system to manage all services
Indian Railways aims to replace several of these apps with this app, such as:
- IRCTC Rail Connect (ticket booking)
- UTS (unreserved ticketing)
- Rail Madad (complaints and feedback)
- Food on Track (meal orders)
- NTES (train enquiries)
Why It Matters
The RailOne app is expected to:
- Reduce user confusion caused by app overload
- Streamline the booking and travel experience
- Improve system efficiency and user trust
The IRCTC Rail Connect app itself has seen over a 100 million downloads on the back of unbridled demand for simplified digital railway services. RailOne takes that to the next level by rolling everything up into a single app.
Three Major Changes Coming to Railway Ticket Booking
With the introduction of RailOne, the Indian Railway also has three big improvements for the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) for better user experience:
1. Advanced Chart Preparation
- Current chart preparation happens 4 hours before departure
- New system to prepare charts 8 hours in advance
- For morning trains (before 2 PM), charts will be finalized at 9 PM the previous day
- Result: Passengers will know their final status earlier
2. Tatkal Booking Only for Verified Users
- Starting July 1, 2025, only verified users will be allowed to book Tatkal tickets
- OTP authentication to be added by end of July
- Verification via Aadhaar or DigiLocker documents
- Expected to reduce fraud and misuse during Tatkal hours
3. Enhanced Reservation System (Coming December 2025)
- Upgraded system being implemented by CRIS
- Capability to handle:
- 1.5 lakh reservations per minute
- 4 million enquiries per minute
- Multilingual interface for easier access
- Special features for Divyangjan, students, and patients
