Google has now rolled out a major update to their famous application Google Maps in India, thus introducing 10 new AI-powered features which has been designed to make navigation smarter, safer, and more interactive.
The update also now integrates Gemini, Google’s advanced AI assistant, along with various attractive features like real-time traffic alerts, coming up with speed limit displays, and even local commute enhancements, thus focusing on improving the Indian user experience.
One of the most anticipated features is the field of Gemini integration, which thus allows users to engage in hands-free conversational navigation.
Drivers can now ask various questions, such as “Where’s the nearest petrol pump?” or “How’s the traffic ahead?” that too directly within Maps, thus receiving instant voice responses.
The proactive traffic alert system is also something that would notify users of road congestion, accidents, or major disruptions, helping commuters plan alternate routes.
Google has also added various kinds of speed limit indicators for major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. All these features would thus enhance road safety awareness.
Another key feature that has been added is the two-wheeler avatar, Navatars, thus offering personalised icons and even giving proper routes for bikers.
Additionally, the metro ticket management tool now helps users view, book, and manage tickets within the app, thus making it a place for a convenient upgrade for urban commuters.
To further improve the facility of local navigation, the update also includes accident-prone zone warnings, parking information, and even comes with hyper-local insights about nearby businesses or landmarks.
Google Maps is also partnering with the new NHAI to deliver real-time highway data to its users, such as toll prices and travel times, directly to drivers.
The rollout has now begun across various Android and iOS platforms in India and will expand gradually nationwide.
