Aadhaar cards now would be designed in a way that they may soon look much simpler, as officials have clarified that the government is considering a new format with only a photo and a secure QR code.
According to various senior authorities, this idea is now also being discussed to make Aadhaar more secure, easy to verify, and even designed in a way that it becomes harder to misuse.
The QR code will contain all the important details safely in a digital form, so the printed card can be designed in a way that it does not need to show too much personal information.
Officials have also explained that the QR code will also include the person’s name, the date of birth, even the address, as well as other essential data, but all this information would only be accessible when scanned.
This change would help to reduce the risk of identity theft because sensitive details will not be openly visible on the card, so nobody can misuse them.
Only authorised agencies with proper scanners will be able to view the information that would be stored inside the QR code.
The new Aadhaar design might also help in faster identity verification in various important places like banks, airports, government offices, and other service centres.
Since the QR code can be checked instantly by the organisation, the process becomes smoother and even tends to become more accurate.
The card will still show the holder’s photograph so that basic identification can be done without scanning.
Officials have also now clarified that the current Aadhaar cards remain fully valid, and people do not need to apply for a new one immediately.
Any update or new card will automatically follow the new design once it has been officially launched all over.
The government is also now working to ensure that the new format is user-friendly and should be compatible with all verification systems.
The aim behind this change is to improve the data privacy, security, and even easy to use and convenient for every Aadhaar holder in the country.
